Celebrating Art and Law: Kwall Barack Nadeau Unveils Stunning New Mural "Rays"

At Kwall Barack Nadeau, we believe in the power of community and creativity. Our latest initiative combines these values in a vibrant and eye-catching way: a beautiful mural now graces the side of our building, capturing the spirit of the Tampa Bay area.

A Canvas of Community

We recently commissioned a new outdoor mural for our building, and it looks gorgeous. Titled "Rays," the mural was designed and painted by renowned local artist Annie Dong. Our desire was for it to be bright, colorful, and joyful. We think Annie achieved that. This mural is just one part of our ongoing commitment to community involvement. We encourage everyone to visit our office at 304 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater to view "Rays" in person. You can see the mural from the corner of Gulf to Bay Road and Belcher Road. Share your photos with us on social media using the hashtag #KBNMural and join the conversation about the intersection of art and law.

The Artistic Vision

The mural includes several gladioli and oranges, reflecting the area's historical agricultural roots. There is blue water reflecting our location near Tampa Bay and the Sun’s rays, which give the mural its name. The butterflies in the mural—the tiger swallowtail and the monarch butterfly—are native to the area, further paying homage to the Tampa Bay area. If you stand in front of the butterfly closest to the ground and spread your arms, it looks like you have wings. This metaphorically represents how we as humans can transcend our limitations. Plus, it’s a great photo-op!

By commissioning "Rays," Kwall Barack Nadeau aims to create a welcoming environment for clients and passersby alike. We hope this artwork serves as a reminder that the law is not just a series of rules but a living, breathing entity that evolves with the people it protects.

The Artist: Annie Dong

The mural was painted by local artist Annie Dong. You can follow her on Instagram @anniedartist. To learn more about Annie or to buy her prints, visit her personal website at anniedartist.com.

Annie Dong is a self-taught artist who combines her Bachelor's degrees in art and psychology from New College of Florida to influence people using art as a tool. She is proud to be a first-generation college and high school graduate, with parents who migrated to the United States from Fuzhou, Fujian, China. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Annie was raised by her grandmother in China until she was six years old. She enjoys being immersed in two different cultures and is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

As a child, art was Annie’s outlet to deal with mental health issues and overcome obstacles; it was also a means for her to communicate with her educators while learning the English language. Dong’s body of work combines visual elements of Chinese culture and her personal memories of growing up in both China and the United States. This sense of disorientation, deepened by the language barrier between English and Chinese, is explored through her use of color and art.
